An open letter to my little niece, CB.
Today is April 5th, 2016 and we are desperately anticipating your arrival. You have started to stir and are due at any moment. We weren’t expecting you for at least another week.
I’m actually going to get to see you for the first time in an ultra sound in about an hour. I’m so excited to see you after months of playing “peek-a-boo” and poking at you.
CB, there is so much in this world that we will want to protect you from but we can’t. I hope you will be able to see the joy and find hope where there is hope. I pray that you know that your joy can not be taken away from you as long as you place it in Christ.
Do not place your faith in humanity. They will fail you. But forgiveness is so important. If you hold everyone up to high expectations, then they will never meet them. Understand that we are all broken people.
We will oo and aww at you for a long time. I also want you to know that we don’t mean to place any expectations on you for being the first grandchild, niece and great grandchild.
There is a lot of love in this family. We have southern roots that make us loud and in your face. You will learn to love us 🙂 When you become a teenager, you will also hate how involved we are in your life. But we do this out of love.
CB, we love you so much already.
